Summer Ain't Such A Bummer

Summer for most east coast surfers is but an awkward bridge between spring and autumn - a forced and unwelcome hiatus punctuated only by mediocre windswells and trips to Indo. Or so it goes. Only this year proved to be an outlier, a blip, an anomaly, a deviation, call it what you will, but whatever you choose to call it it was good. Sloppy windswells were replaced by sweet groomed groundswells, and reefs that had lain dormant the entire winter stirred to life in fleeting moments of greatness. How great if felt to feel the rocks beneath bare feet, our visceral connection to the sea made all the more real without 6mm of rubber. So, thank you summer, let's hope autumn delivers!
